I am just trying to determine exactly what is going to happen here, as if I am going to lose functional access to WLE 8, I will just install the WLE 9 trial and explore WLE 9 at my convenience until I am comfortable with the new interface and functionality before replacing WLE 8 with WLE 9. And as such, I expect that WLE 8 will become unlicensed and unusable. Upon doing so I also expect that the conversion will remove the current WLE 8 license with it being replaced with a new license for WLE 9 only, and will only be applicable to the new WLE 9 install. I have not completed this process as I am expecting that upon choosing my WLE 8 license and clicking “Upgrade License” that the current WLE 8 SeL license will be converted to a single WLE 9 SeL license. Thus, I have to choose an existing WLE 8 license to “upgrade”.

The only reason I switched one computer here to Wavelab 64 bit was because I needed Wavelab to access more than 4GB of RAM for times when using a lot of instances of big plugins. I know the drive is good.All the points MrSoundMan has made is what I would expect if I buy the full version of WLE 9. I remember vaguely from years back issues like this with Wavelab and 'Upper Filters' settings in the Registry, something to do with ATAPI/ASAPI but I don't really have a clue where to start on that and cannot find any up to date information. Opening and saving files is a breeze in WaveLab, while in some other audio editing programs, it can take 30 seconds or a minute for a large file. To this day, I don't know why that is, but it's just faster. I am using the same cable and SATA port as the old drive which was fine for Wavelab previously. Speed - Quite simply, saving a huge file in WaveLab is orders of magnitude faster than in Sound Forge. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Wavelab El8. I have checked the firmware for the optical drive is up to date. I have an unanswered support ticket out to Steinberg (24 hours +), a request on their Facebook page (lame comment telling me to update when I already told them I updated), and a post on their forum where I got one suggestion that didn't help unfortunately. It works fine - I am running Windows 7 圆4 and I can read and write to the drive except in Wavelab Elements 8 - it cannot see the drive and just says NO DEVICE when I get to authoring from a montage, etc. My old CD/DVD drive died and I bought a new Samsung SH-224BB Super multi CD/DVDRW, SATA drive.
